As oil because of this spill permeates our lives whether we are near or far from the action, the rhetoric continues to become more ‘doomsday’. This seems like a scaremongering report yet, is not scaremongering in this instance, now a fair tactic?
Note: The PBS gallon counter has just come back on line showing twice the spill.
…….any worse?

Not all electric cars have to be ugly little boxes. I can almost hear the sigh of relief. The increase in interest from auto makers suggests the majority of us will be driving one in the next 5 to 10 years. And as electric cars become more mainstream, like most technology, costs will go down and significant improvements will develop. Tesla was one of the first electric car makers and many have taken a shine to the Tesla Roadster. But they’re not the only ones busy coming up with cool electric car designs.

Tesla Roadster
The Tesla Roadster is a great example of an electric car that will make heads turn. Even Magnum PI probably wants one.

BMW electric car
There isn’t a lot known about the electric BMW that was at the Detroit auto show, but its coming soon.

Electric Porsche?
The Porsche 918 Spyder is a plug-in hybrid supercar that provides the same thrills as your “average” Porsche with 718 horsepower, a mid-engine V-8 with two electric motors, and a claimed 78.4 mpg.

Audi electric car
Audi is getting on track with an e-tron supercar too. The hybrid driveline will be followed by all-electric vehicles soon. While quatro has become synonymous for all wheel drive, e-tron is to be the Audi brand name for electric mobility. Coincidentally, etron is also French for turd, but don’t let that skew you.

Fisker Karma
The Fisker Karma is no slouch in style either. A plug-in hybrid sports sedan, its introductory model will be about $80k, with less expensive models to follow.

Dodge Circuit EV
Makers of the 60′s muscle cars are also joining the race. The Dodge Circuit EV could be in production by 2011.

Cadillac Converj
This concept car is right out of the matrix, but its entirely possible you’ll soon see a Cadillac Converj rolling down the highway. While the roadsters and supercars of the new electric era don’t come cheap, its only a matter of time as they become more common before the prices begin to drop.

I recall searching and finding a five passenger sedan that would do 500k and had a top speed of 120k. It was a Chinese electric car running on lead acid batteries. But that vehicle seems to have slipped below the horizon.
Meanwhile, new electric cars are surging from all over the planet.
The timing for Charles Watson’s magnet motor appears nye. All of the new vehicles are restricted by range and recharge. The WMM solves these problems. Give that good thought as you view:

With the gulf spill, the economy, the politics, the volcanoes, the earthquakes, the pollution, the weather, and 2012, the fear of newness takes on whole new cavities of decay what with movies (general audience, bring your kids to see the end of the world on the big screen), tv shows, Life After People, History Channel, Aftermath, National Geographic Channel, movies like Armageddon and Deep Impact. And with the host of copycats, we seem bent on seeing our destruction on celluloid.
To me, the fear of newness relates to Marshall McLuhan who coined the phrase, the medium is the message. The lightbulb that allows you to read is the message. Those thoughts of that time brought a new fear, that of the future. Would it be like 1984 with the thought police? Mandatory vaccinations? Rfid chips in everybody? The brave new world order?
Fear of newness used to represent a feeling of wanting everything modern yet living in Bonanza days riding horses and seeing beautiful vistas and sunsets. Drinking pure water and breakfast cereal you made yourself. No chemicals, no preservatives, no electricity and no stress from fear of a big bomb. The only fear of newness then was that beast of a belching vehicle called the automobile. And the fears were realized as horse power became mechanized. And horses became sidelined. And now, elephants, huge beasts that used to do the heavy lifting, now relegated to amusing entertainment as they dance for your purchased pack of bananas.
The fear of newness used to represent a hesitation to go forward on something new and good for fear of losing something old and good. At this writing, today’s fear of newness is the journey to total devastation.
Yet there is a window that points to a new source of energy, one that could save us all, before whatever happens in 2012.
I still can’t believe that the movie, 2012, was classified for General Audiences.
Right, get em thinking oblivion before they’re even five.
But if 2012 is really oblivion then we still have some time to think of how to get around it. And if you follow the 25-26 thousand year cycle, if we succeed, we will be the first.
